Lauren Machen is a Los Angeles based set designer and art director creating sets, installations, and objects. She began her career in designing wearable accessories featured in fashion editorials and worn by talent such as Lady Gaga and Lil Nas X. For over 15 years she has designed sets and spaces for grammy winning musicians, creative directors, top brands, publications and created live works for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the MTV Video Music Awards, and The Walker Art Center. 

With studies in energy work and neuro-architecture; mental health, wellness, and the senses are at the forefront of her work. She is known for her specialized use of color and form, utilizing minimalistic pieces to convey broader and more complex concepts. She implements a highly collaborative process with her clients, using collective thought to create truly transformative design.

In 2020, she created Machen Machen Studio (MMS) with a holistic ecosystem that provides community, resources, opportunity and mentorship to a collective of diverse and emerging designers, fabricators + artists working in Los Angeles and New York.
